Business model

Over the past three decades, more and more business companies have come to realize that in our ‘global village,’ in which large corporations sometimes hold powers and influence almost equivalent to that of countries, the business sector has a growing social responsibility. We in ‘Social Magic’ subscribe to this view, and believe that the contribution of the business sector is vital if we are to bring about the change we are all hoping for. About thirty years ago (fifteen in Israel) companies started managing their business according to a policy of corporation-responsibility. This is a strategic way of conducting business, with which each company can monitor its influence on a variety of interested parties: employees, suppliers, customers, investors, the environment, and the community in which the company is operating. We in “Social Magic” have developed unique and ground breaking models for community building and volunteering in the business sector.

“Inspiration Group,” the founding investors of “Magic”

Tomer Itzhaki, and Guy Gorfil, the founders and owners of the real-estate company “Inspiration Group,” have carefully chosen the name for their company. In April 2015, during a chance meeting in Dharamshala, India, between Itzhaki and Niv Agam, the Founder and chairperson of “Magic,” both understood immediately that “Social Magic” and “Inspiration Group” share a common vision. “Inspiration Group” was then making money-donations to families that were struggling with financial hardships and were familiar to the social service authorities. They have done so out of recognition that having a place to live - a home - is essential to any sense of financial and mental security. The chance meeting between Agam and Itzhaki lead to the realization that the assitance model developed in “Social Magic” will allow “Inspiration Group” to significantly magnify the impact of their donations, and it was decided to join forces for the good. Thanks to the inspiriting generosity of Itzhaki and Gorfil, the foundations were laid for the operation of “Social Magic.”

Our three models

Together with HR managers and the corporation-responsibility managers from Straus Israel, and later corporation-responsibility managers from “Leumi Bank,” we have developed unique and ground breaking models concerning employees welfare, volunteering and corporation responsibility.

First model – Intra-organizational community: this allows business companies to assist employees who are in need. In these intra-organizational communities, employees offer assistance to co-workers.

Second model – a business ‘adopting’ a community: in this model, businesses in which there are no employees in need ‘adopt’ a geographically nearby community, and offer support—both financial and organizational.

Third model – hybrid community: this model fit business organization that have no employees in need, and have enough man-power, so as to allow employees to volunteer as an organic group, to assist ‘Magic’ participants who reside in geographical proximity.

The bottom line

Involving ‘Magic’ in the business sector has a few advantages for organizations:

  1. It allows diverting the organization's resources to assist inwardly.

  2. It improves the employees overall welfare, and as a result, their satisfaction and work-productivity.

  3. It strengthens the sense of belonging, and the sense of cohesion inside the organization, for both participants and companions.

It aids monitoring and improvement of intra-organizational rocesses.

How does it work?

Each community is made of three circles of members:

  1. Participants: Employees who found themselves struggling with hardships and are interested in taking part in the community and communal process.

  2. Companions: employees who voluntarily accompany other employees in need. The companions oversee and coordinate the aid that the participants receive and receive comprehensive training by “Magic.”

  3. Professional advisors: legal experts, social-workers, rights-experts, financial advisors, etc.

Each community has about 35 members: 15 volunteer companions, 15 participants and professional advisors.

Each community is managed by a couple of coordinators, who oversee the personal and collective processes in the community

Magic is a public institution for donation tax exemption eligibility, section 46a.
